The book argues that it is the logic of the gift and its reciprocity that accompany and structure all forms of interaction, from the social micro to the macro-level. It demonstrates that in modern societies agonistic and non-agonistic gifts form their own orders of interaction.

About the Author
Mr. Patrick Carey received his M.S. in Biostatistics from the University of Wisconsin, where he worked as a researcher designing and analyzing clinical studies. He co-authored his first textbook on using Excel as a statistical tool. Today, Mr. Carey has authored or co-authored more than 20 leading academic and trade texts for the software industry.

Ms. Carol DesJardins spent 25 years in the private sector as a programmer, systems analyst and eventually Chief Information Officer. During that time, she honed her skills with Excel as an analysis tool. She transitioned her knowledge to the classroom and has taught several applications and programming courses. Ms. DesJardins co-authored her first textbook on Excel. In addition to writing, she continues to teach at St. Clair County Community College.

His more than 600 crime, mystery and thriller titles have now sold 80 million copies in 25 languages. These include many popular series such as Gideon of Scotland Yard, The Toff, Dr Palfrey and The Baron. Creasy wrote under many pseudonyms, explaining that booksellers had complained he totally dominated the 'C' section in stores. They included: Gordon Ashe, Michael Halliday, J J Marric,, Anthony Morton and Jeremy York. Never one to sit still, Creasey had a strong social conscience, and stood for Parliament several times, along with founding the One Party Alliance which promoted the idea of government by a coalition of the best minds from across the political spectrum. He also founded the British Crime Writers' Association, which to this day celebrates outstanding crime writing. The Mystery Writers of America bestowed upon him the Edgar Award for best novel and then in 1969 the ultimate Grand Master Award.�John Creasey's stories are as compelling today as ever.

About the Author
Tamara Pinkas is a faculty member in the Cooperative Education Division at Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon, where she has helped thousands of people find jobs since 1986. Tamara is a national advocate for cooperative education through her membership in the Cooperative Education and Internship Association and the League for Innovation in the Community College.
Scott Weighart is the Director of Learning & Development for Bates Communications, a firm specializing in executive coaching and leadership communications. For over a decade, he worked with cooperative education students at Northeastern University and earned international recognition for books, articles, and workshops.
Tamara and Scott have taught many job search and internship preparation courses and coached thousands of job seekers of all ages in their efforts to find successful internships and employment.
