I'm not a school teacher, I no longer have children at home, and I needed to get back to the basics to write with ease. This is exactly what I was looking for. I have forgotten so many basic rules of writing since my childhood. I'm taking on a new challenge in my life and that's to become a blogger. I have a lot to learn and this, together with Painless Writing, will be my sidekicks. It took me over 10 minutes to write this short review. How ridiculous is that! I struggle to write, but I press on. Thank you.

Love this book. I have used it for years with my students of all levels. It's a great reference for students to refresh their basics or give them human-friendly explanations of basic grammar. I suspect it would be very valuable to students for homework or homeschooling as well.

excellent illustrations , closer to a detailed atlas than a classic texbook, this heavy book gives the clinician a realistic approach to micro dental surgery. the step by step procedures are well shown in details and suturing techniques fully developed.

Engrossing.

Detectives Zigic and Ferreira are back, and a welcome return it is, too.

As in Eva Dolan‘s marvelous debut novel,Long Way Home, the prickly duo investigate a murder which leads them to dig deeply into Britain’s immigrant communities.

Tell No Tales is an engrossing, marvelously well-written and perfectly paced police procedural that takes an uncomfortable look at the lives of those at the bottom of British society.

Zigic and Ferreir are strong and very likable protagonists and, like the rest of the characters in Tell No Tales, are completely believable.

Tell No Tales confirms Eva Dolan‘s position as one of the the UK’s most powerful social-realist writers.

Oh dear, seem to have become addicted to this series

Two books in and the Zigic and Ferreira is a new much anticipated, favourite series.

If you've read the first book, then as soon as you start TELL NO TALES, you're straight back with characters that you really know, in a place that you're comfortable in, even though there is nothing comfortable about events, or the social climate. If you haven't read the first, then it won't matter a bit - there is still plenty here for new readers.

Tackling the question of immigration, immigrant workers, tensions with Nationalist groups, and the explosion in Hate Crimes that has occurred in many communities worldwide can't be an easy undertaking - the issues behind everything are complicated and fraught with political and personal implications. Setting events within the purview of the Hate Crimes division, and then never creating an easy situation for them to deal with gives the reader the opportunity to connect, see, even understand many of those issues through the investigator's eyes. Add to that in TELL NO TALES you have the viewpoint of a survivor (and participant), as well as a look at the politics behind many of the tensions, which gives the difficulties more nuance, more complications, more connections.

The other element that contributes much to these books is the way that no-one here is exactly 100% perfect. Zigic is a well-meaning, frequently absent husband and father, who worries about the effect that this will have on his family. There are such nice glimpses into the things that make you go hmmm - the use of very Slavic names for his very English boys and the potential impact that could have. The way that their quiet domestic community is being pressed in upon as the suburbs extend, potentially bringing the problems of his work-beat closer to home. Both of these main characters are the children of immigrant families, so many of the tensions, the problems of acceptance, fitting in are all too obviously understood. Ferreira is the child of Portuguese parents, trying to step away from family control, branch out a little, living the hard partying life of a young woman who is feeling the pressure of family obligations.

This understanding of the experience of many of the victims, and the perpetrators being perused isn't done in a heavy handed manner however. This is a strong police procedural into which these elements are seamlessly introduced, tucked into the narrative in a way that's informative rather than pointed.

All of which is delivered in a flowing, strong style that effortlessly holds the reader's attention, always promising more in the next chapter. TELL NO TALES is great crime fiction. It's a tale being told, it's a look into a particularly dark aspect of society and a very current day problem, and it's an exploration of the things that go wrong (and right) in our world.

Murder and immigration

I'm usually not a fan of fiction taking place in grim worlds where very bad people thrive. I like to be able to relate to people in the story. But Eva Dolan somehow describes this hard immigrant world and at the same time injects some humour and some suspense, as she again and again turns the story around. This is #2 of a series. The first was good, the second is great. I have high hopes for the third, which is waiting on my Kindle.

Oh, me! Book 3 has been hard to read, because of Damon's illness, and also because I've seen it firsthand in my family. However, The author has done a masterful job of illustrating that love can conquer so many hurts and concerns. And these guys (I'm thinking of them as real, a testament to the author) are awesome! It makes me wish I could be part of such a group in real life. Love is such a beautiful thing, especially when four guys are involved! Thanks, Sean, for reminding us.

Absolutely amazing.....Although Damon is half way through his chemo sessions he still pushes to meet at the cabin to draw straws.....Tork is the lucky bottom....There isn't as much sex in this one as a lot of their attention is to look after Damon....I loved this one though...They truly are all meant to be together...A perfect story and next we'll get Damon who hopefully will be fully recovered x

Another great one! I just love this group of guys! I keep checking (not stalking) this author's FB page to determine when the next one in this series is to release. The whole series is worth the read and if you have not read them all by this author, get them now! They are HOT but the connection and love between these characters is fabulous. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

OMG! In some parts of this book it is like she is writing about me and how I used to be growing up. Sugar is a deadly and addictive substance that really makes life miserable. Much of the infrastructure of today's industrialized world arose in the period from the outbreak of World War I to the conclusion of World War II. It was during these years that the capabilities of traditional electrical engineering—generators, power transmission, motors, electric lighting and heating, home appliances, and so on—became ubiquitous. Even more importantly, it was during this time that a new type of electrical engineering—electronics—emerged. Because of its applications in communications (both wire-based and wireless), entertainment (notably radio, the phonograph, and sound movies), industry, science and medicine, and the military, the electronics industry became a major part of the economy.

Dawn of the Electronic Age explores how this engineering knowledge and its main applications developed in various scientific, economic, and social contexts, and explains how each was profoundly affected by electrical technologies. It takes an international perspective and a narrative approach, unfolding the story chronologically.

Though a scholarly study (with sources of information given in endnotes for engineers and historians of science and technology), the book is intended for the general public. Ultimately, it tells the story of the development of a new realm of engineering and its widespread applications during the remarkable and tragic period of two world wars and the decades in between.

FREDERIK NEBEKER, PHD, is currently Senior Research Historian at the IEEE History Center, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.

Not what the description says it is, but still interesting

The book was not the type of book it advertised itself as, but I do not fault the seller. I was led to believ it was more on the specific instruments that were designed and their use. It is in fact, more of a general history of electronic development, something I didn't expect, yet I am enjoying reading! :)

But, it was not what I had hoped for, and I do not fault Amazon, the description on the page is what Amazon has to go by, and Amazon itself is not responsile for that.

Douglas Hammond BDS (Wales) MFGDP (UK). Clinical Lecturer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Royal London Hospital. Douglas graduated from Cardiff Dental Hospital and completed various hospital and practice jobs. He then began working as a part-time lecturer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal London Hospital in 2002, whilst embarking on a medicine degree at University College London. He should graduate in 2007. From there, he hopes to continue into specialist training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
